Beach - Il Moletto

Sand or Rocks?

From wide, golden-sand beaches to secluded, hidden coves,Argentario beaches for every taste: whether easily accessible or wild anduntouched, they are all surrounded bypristine natureand overlookcrystal-clear waters.

The Moletto, or Sanità Pier, located in the heart of the Pilarella neighborhood, is a small, easily accessible pier built to serve the Sanità Palace, which stands directly above it.

In the past, it served as a docking point for inspections and, if necessary, for holding ships in quarantine.
From the 1950s onward, it became a hub for residents and vacationers to go swimming.

In 1962, the location was used as the set for Edoardo Vianello’s song “Pinne fucile ed occhiali.”

Even today, this small pier, paved with large blocks of Giglio granite, remains a charming sight, and taking a quick dip at the little beach at Moletto is like getting a taste of the roaring ’60s.
