Route Description

This fascinating route begins at the top of the San Pietro climb, about 5 km from the Porto Santo Stefano cemetery. From here, you take an uphill dirt road, nestled in the tranquility of the promontory and surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation.

At the first intersection, turn right, and from this point you can already enjoy a spectacular view of the island of Giannutri, which appears solitary on the horizon, suspended between sky and sea.

Continuing on, turn right again at the second intersection and follow the road for about 1.5 km, alternating between a long descent and flat stretches, until you reach the picturesque spot known as “Trivio dell’Olmo.”

Here, follow the fence on the left for about 500 meters until you come to a new dirt road on the right. This road takes you for about 1.5 km through increasingly open and quiet surroundings until you reach a junction with the paved road.

At this point, turn left and follow the signs for Croce del Predicatore, a scenic and symbolic spot that can be reached via a final stretch of road, which is rewarded with sweeping, spectacular views of the southern slope of theArgentario andthe Tuscan Archipelago.
