This scenic hike begins along the road leading from Porto Santo Stefano to the village of Cannelle, specifically about 3.5 km from the town cemetery. The starting point is easily recognizable and marked by signs for Argentiera, one of the highest and most fascinating areas of Monte Argentario.
Take the paved road, following the signs, and continue for about 1 km until you reach an intersection. Here, turn left, beginning a descent that leads to a second fork in the road, where you should follow the signs for “La Casa dei Nonni.”
After another 250 meters of paved road and about 500 meters of dirt road, you’ll come to another intersection: here, turn right and tackle the final climb leading to the summitof Argentiera.
The trail winds through wild vegetation and the intense scents of the Mediterranean scrub, offering picturesque views of the sea and the inland landscape. Reaching the summit rewards the effort with a spectacular 360-degree viewof the Tuscan Archipelago, perfect for a moment of contemplation or to take some photos.
