Route Description

This route begins at the square in front of the Spanish Fortress, one of Porto Santo Stefano’s most iconic landmarks. Opposite the castle, at the bend in the road, take Via della Grotta, which marks the start of a challenging climb of about 1 km, surrounded by the vegetation and silence of the Mediterranean scrub.

Follow the signs for Ronconali at all times, as you traverse a stretch of the trail that offers authentic and picturesque views. Along the way, you’ll pass through a unique area dotted with small votive chapels, which lend the surroundings an intimate and spiritual atmosphere.

The trail continues in a straight line, offering sweeping panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding hills along the entire route, making every step part of an immersive experience in the nature and history ofArgentario.

At the end of the hike, a tower can be seen in the distance—fascinating, though not open to the public. Even though it’s not possible to reach it, the breathtaking views along the entire route make the hike rewarding and full of beauty.
